This is a contract position.

A company is looking for a goal oriented, proactive professional to assist in fulfilling the agency's mission of helping people identify and overcome barriers to employment. The professional will be responsible for contract compliance for all Agency program operations and assisting the Controller with budgeting, monthly financial reporting and audit preparations.


Bachelor's degree with emphasis in accounting or equivalent accounting experience. Bachelor’s degree can be substituted for direct experience in the accounting field.


Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or equivalent plus 3 years of experience accounting. Non-degreed applicants must have 5+ years of direct experience in all aspects of accounting.


Able to comprehend and communicate contractual obligations to management.

Handle delicate matters with tact and diplomacy.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Able to identify problems quickly and document abnormalities.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as within team management concept.

Extensive knowledge of general accounting and computer use in the work place

Perform involved analytical work requiring a broad knowledge of accounting

Work well with other professionals both inside and outside Career and Recovery Resources, Inc.

Use personal computer in reporting, analysis, and for communications with diverse groups.

Consistently apply mature judgment to highly sensitive and confidential matters.


Responsible for the review and revision of the financial procedures to ensure compliance with various funding sources’ financial manuals.

Prepare budgets and modifications, for grant applications and contract proposals with the objective of ensuring that agency goals are achieved in a financially prudent and responsible manner.

Provide training as needed regarding financial budgeting and monitoring to Managers and Directors.

Prepares bank deposits, records cash receipts and applies funds to appropriate accounts.

Responsible for preparation of monthly closing entries and the monthly financial statements.

Reviews program billing and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with funding agency and governmental regulations. Recommends corrective action to address deficiencies.

Assembles requested documentation for external financial audits. Assumes lead role in working with auditors and responding to questions. Assists the Controller in drafting responses to formal audit findings.

Prepares required monthly, annual and closeout performance reports for agency programs in accordance with fund or requirements.

Also provide internal auditing as requested by Senior Management.

Maintains an equipment sub ledger that reconciles to the agency balance sheet. Acts as property coordinator with agencies that fund capital equipment.

Assists the Controller with preparation of annual audit schedules and work papers.

Provide the CEO with financial and accounting information as requested.
