Project Description

The part-time Bookkeeper is responsible for data entry and financial records maintenance. She or he works closely with the Executive Director, the Director of Finance (pending hire), the Board Treasurer and other staff. She or he supports financial reporting, the audit process, as well as the day to day administration. 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in an accounting and financial data entry role 

Preferred:

  • Experience in accounting for a non-profit organization

  • Experience in audit procedures

Essential Competencies

Knowledge and understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles

Skilled in the use of computers and related software applications, including proficiency

in Quickbooks accounting software, Microsoft Word and Excel

Ability to prepare and present a variety of reports

Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve goals

Ability to plan and organize

Ability to handle a number of tasks simultaneously and prioritize work


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Data Entry

Entering donations, invoices

Processing expense reports

Preparing purchase orders

Preparing deposits

Checking account balances

Ensuring that transactions are appropriately documented

Fiscal Management

Works with the Director of Finance and the Board Treasurer to ensure that financial procedures are followed, and that financial reports are issued in a timely manner

Collaborates with the Donor Relations and Data Manager and other staff as needed to ensure that donor and accounting records are accurate and aligned

Supports the day to day financial activities of the organization, such as preparing purchase orders, preparing deposits, and preparing interim financial reports
